Get to know Principal Fey

Welcome to the Shuler Family and Community. I am Dr. Joel T. Fey, and I am fortunate to be the principal of Shuler Elementary. At Shuler, we continually focus on an encouraging, challenging, safe, and fun environment for all students and staff by focusing on three components:

I received my B.A. in Elementary Education from Grand View University in 1995, my M.S. in Education from Drake University in 2003, and my Ed.D., Doctor of Education, from Drake University in 2022, and I have served as Shuler Principal since 2017. Prior experiences included time as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, as well as a building principal. My wife Sea is a midwife in Des Moines, and we are proud parents of two children, TJ and Alli.
